“Final Day for Early Voting in West Virginia Before 2024 Primary Election”
West Virginia voters have one last chance to cast their ballots early before the 2024 Primary Election on Tuesday, May 14. Today marks the final day for early voting in the state, with polls open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Mercer County.
As of Friday afternoon, a total of 753 Democrats, 180 Independents, 3 Libertarians, 621 No Party, and 1,273 Republican voters have already participated in early voting, according to Mercer County Clerk Verlin Moy. Moy emphasized the importance of every vote, regardless of party affiliation, urging voters to make their voices heard.
Mercer County offers four early voting locations, including the Mercer County Courthouse in Princeton and the Herb Sims Wellness Center in Bluefield. Additional polling places can be found at the Four Seasons Answering Service in Bluewell and the Covenant Baptist Church between Princeton and Athens.
Voters are reminded to bring their voter ID card, driver’s license, hunting/fishing license, or a current utility bill to verify their address. These forms of identification can be with or without a photo.
In neighboring Monroe County, early voting is available at the old Union Rescue Building in Union and Peterstown Town Hall. McDowell County residents can cast their early ballots at the McDowell County Courthouse in Welch.
Moy stressed that the polling places for early voting differ from those on Election Day, where voters must cast their ballots at their designated home precinct. To find their precinct, voters can check their voter registration card or visit the West Virginia Secretary of State’s website for more information.
For additional election resources and information, voters can visit mercervotes.com or contact the Mercer County Clerk’s office at 304-487-8338 or 8339.
As the primary election approaches, West Virginia residents are encouraged to exercise their right to vote and participate in shaping the future of their communities.
