Wheeling Mayor Receives Senate Endorsement from Joe Manchin

Date:

West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin Endorses Wheeling Mayor Glenn Elliott for Senate Seat

West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin has officially endorsed Wheeling Mayor Glenn Elliott as his top choice to replace him in the Senate, adding a new twist to the upcoming race for his seat.

Manchin, a Democrat who announced last November that he would not seek reelection, has thrown his support behind Elliott, citing his determination and commitment to serving the people of West Virginia. Elliott is running against fellow Democrats Don Blankenship and Zach Shrewberry for the nomination.

In a video posted by Elliott on Twitter, Manchin praised the mayor for his dedication to fighting for West Virginia and putting the needs of the state above partisan politics in Washington, D.C.

The race for Manchin’s Senate seat is expected to be highly competitive, with Republicans eyeing the opportunity to flip the seat in their favor. Gov. Jim Justice and Rep. Alex Mooney are among the top contenders on the Republican side, with Justice considered the frontrunner for the nomination.

Manchin’s endorsement of Elliott has been highly sought after since his retirement announcement, with Elliott crediting a conversation with Manchin as a key factor in his decision to run for Senate. The primaries in West Virginia are set to take place on May 14.

With Manchin’s backing, Elliott’s campaign is sure to gain momentum as the race heats up in the coming months. Stay tuned for more updates on this closely watched Senate race.
