Governor Jim Justice Leads Groundbreaking Ceremony for New KOA Campground at Mylan Park

Governor Jim Justice, alongside West Virginia Department of Tourism Secretary Chelsea Ruby, broke ground on a new 170-site campground at Mylan Park on Wednesday. The campground, set to be completed by spring 2025, will be part of Kampgrounds of America (KOA) and is funded by $3.5 million in state grants and private funding.

The project also includes the development of pickleball courts in the surrounding area, highlighting the Justice Administration’s efforts to boost tourism in West Virginia. Secretary Ruby emphasized the region’s growth as a tourism hotspot and praised the community for creating an incredible experience for visitors.

Governor Justice commended Mylan Park as a beacon for tourism in the state and encouraged attendees to continue building local tourism. The campground will offer a resort-type feel to accommodate the increasing number of tourists visiting the state, with amenities such as a check-in station, community space, recreational areas, and more.

With the rise in RV camping nationally, Secretary Ruby believes the campground is a perfect fit for the area and the state. The proximity to Mylan Park’s activities, including the Aquatic Center, makes it an attractive destination for visitors.

“I am absolutely committed in every way to my belief that West Virginia is the greatest place on the planet,” Governor Justice stated. For more information on the campground and Mylan Park, visit mylanpark.org.
