U.S. Sen. Rand Paul Rallies for Mooney in Huntington
U.S. Rep. Alex Mooney Receives Support from U.S. Sen. Rand Paul in U.S. Senate Campaign Rally
HUNTINGTON — U.S. Rep. Alex Mooney received a boost in his U.S. Senate campaign on Friday as U.S. Sen. Rand Paul joined him at a rally in Huntington. Mooney, who is running for the U.S. Senate against Gov. Jim Justice, spoke to a packed room at the VFW Post 9738, emphasizing the importance of freedom and individual choice in decision-making.
Paul, a seasoned U.S. Senator with a background in eye surgery, endorsed Mooney’s campaign earlier this year. Along with Senators Ted Cruz and Mike Lee, Paul is one of three senators supporting Mooney in his bid for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Sen. Joe Manchin.
During the rally, Paul highlighted the need for conservative voices like Mooney in the Senate to combat issues such as expanding national debt. Mooney, who has also received endorsements from various conservative groups, emphasized his voting record and commitment to conservative values.
The event was not without controversy, as supporters of the PACT Act, which included funding for healthcare for veterans exposed to toxic burn pits, confronted Mooney for his vote on the issue. Paul also took to Twitter to criticize Gov. Jim Justice for past tax increases, setting the stage for a clash between Mooney’s conservative backers and Republican leadership supporting Justice.
Despite the challenges ahead, Mooney remains confident in his campaign and his ability to represent the conservative values of West Virginians in the U.S. Senate. With the support of influential figures like Rand Paul, Mooney is positioning himself as a strong contender in the upcoming election.
