Florida Senator Marco Rubio, once dubbed “Little Marco” by former President Donald Trump, is now in the running to be his 2024 vice presidential pick. However, a “technical glitch” in the Constitution may complicate matters, as it may be difficult for both the VP and president to be from the same state.
During an interview on Fox News Sunday, host Shannon Bream asked Senator Rubio if he would leave Florida or change his residency if asked to join Mr. Trump’s 2024 ticket. While the lawmaker did not directly answer the question, he did mention that Mr. Trump will have a talented group of people to choose from for various roles.
Senator Rubio also hinted at potential legal challenges in certain states, referencing the ongoing hush money trial in New York involving Mr. Trump. Bream joked about not moving to New York, given the circumstances.
The discussion also touched on the 12th Amendment, which could pose a problem if both Mr. Trump and Senator Rubio are from Florida and the state’s electors cast their votes. Despite these potential hurdles, Mr. Trump has yet to announce his running mate for the 2024 election.
The relationship between Mr. Trump and Senator Rubio has evolved from bitter feuds during the 2016 GOP nominee race to the possibility of being running mates. Their past exchanges, including name-calling and jokes about physical appearances, have now given way to speculation about a potential political partnership.
