Senator Capito Raises Concerns Over $50 Million in Taxpayer Funding Going to Group Engaging in “Pro-Hamas” Activities

U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) has raised concerns over the allocation of $50 million in taxpayer funding to a group engaging in “pro-Hamas” activities through the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). The grant was awarded to the Climate Justice Alliance by the Environmental Protection Agency in December. Capito’s staff discovered images on the group’s website, including one depicting a bulldozer used in a Hamas attack on Israel.

Capito criticized the group for its anti-Israel and anti-Semitic activities, as well as its radical initiatives such as defunding the police and military. She questioned whether the Climate Justice Alliance would truly use the funds for environmental cleanup or for supporting protests.

The senator vowed to continue monitoring where American taxpayer dollars are being directed, emphasizing the need for oversight in funding allocation. This revelation adds a new layer of scrutiny to the IRA and raises questions about the accountability of organizations receiving government grants.
