West Virginia Governor Jim Justice Endorses Trump for 2024 Republican Nomination
West Virginia Governor Jim Justice has officially endorsed former President Trump for the Republican nomination for president in 2024, citing Trump’s leadership and success compared to the current administration under President Joe Biden. Justice, who is also a candidate for the Senate seat currently held by Senator Joe Manchin, expressed his support for Trump on Twitter, confident that Trump will secure the nomination and be re-elected as the next President.
The endorsement comes as early polling shows Justice with a significant lead over Manchin in a hypothetical Senate race. West Virginia Representative Alex Mooney, who is also running for the GOP Senate nomination, endorsed Trump in November, emphasizing the need for a conservative leader who will uphold Trump’s America First Agenda.
Mooney’s campaign manager criticized Justice’s endorsement as a sign of fear and concern about losing support from conservatives in West Virginia. Justice joins a growing list of Republican officials who have thrown their support behind Trump for the 2024 presidential nomination, including South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster, several senators, and over 60 representatives.
In addition to Justice’s endorsement, Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose also announced his support for Trump’s presidential campaign on Monday. LaRose, who is running for Senate in Ohio, highlighted his previous endorsement by Trump and expressed his commitment to working with Trump as a United States Senator to “make America great again.”
Trump continues to maintain a significant lead in polls of the Republican field over his numerous challengers as the 2024 presidential election approaches. The endorsement from Justice and other prominent Republicans further solidifies Trump’s position as a frontrunner for the GOP nomination.
