Republican Governors Stand in Solidarity for Jewish American Heritage Month amid Surge in Antisemitism
Alabama Governor Kay Ivey Joins Republican Governors in Recognizing Jewish American Heritage Month Amid Rise in Antisemitism
Alabama Governor Kay Ivey, along with 26 other Republican governors, issued a joint statement on Wednesday recognizing May as Jewish American Heritage Month. This comes in the wake of a troubling 400% increase in cases of antisemitism across the nation.
The governors expressed their solidarity with the Jewish community, denouncing acts of antisemitism, religious bigotry, and terrorism both in the United States and around the world. They highlighted the long history of support for Israel and emphasized the positive contributions of the Jewish community to the nation.
Governor Ivey was joined by a host of other governors including Mike Dunleavy of Alaska, Ron DeSantis of Florida, and Greg Abbott of Texas, among others. The Republican Jewish Coalition also weighed in on the issue, calling for moral clarity, courage, and righteous leadership in the face of rising antisemitism.
As Jewish American Heritage Month kicks off, the message from Governor Ivey and her fellow governors is clear: the Jewish community deserves unwavering support and solidarity in the face of hatred and persecution.
