Early Voting Begins for May Primary Election in Morgan County
Local registered voters in Morgan County can now begin casting their ballots for the upcoming May primary election. Early voting has officially started at the Morgan County Courthouse, giving residents the opportunity to have their voices heard before the official election day on May 14.
During the early voting period, which runs from May 1 to May 11, voters can visit the courthouse during business hours to cast their ballots. In addition, the courthouse will be open for voting on Saturdays, May 4 and May 11, to accommodate those who may not be able to make it during the week.
The primary election will determine party nominees for the General Election ballot, as well as elect officials for non-partisan judicial offices, the Eastern Panhandle Conservation District, and the Morgan County School Board. A variety of positions are up for election, including justices of the Supreme Court of Appeals, judges for the 27th Judicial Circuit, family court judges, magistrates, and members of the Board of Education.
Candidates for various offices, including U.S. President, U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives, Governor of West Virginia, Secretary of State, State Auditor, State Treasurer, Commissioner of Agriculture, Attorney General, State Senate, State Delegate, Morgan County Sheriff, Prosecuting Attorney, Commissioner, and Assessor, are also listed on the ballot.
For those unable to vote in person during the early voting period or on election day, absentee ballots are available. The deadline to apply for an absentee ballot is May 8, and they can be hand-delivered to the County Clerk’s office until May 13 or postmarked by May 14.
