Elon Musk to Host Presidential Debate with Robert F Kennedy Jr on X Platform

Tech mogul Elon Musk has announced that he will be hosting a presidential debate on his platform X, formerly known as Twitter, ahead of the 2024 US elections in November. The independent candidate, Robert F Kennedy Jr, has called on current President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump to join the debate.

Both President Biden and former President Trump have already agreed to participate in a highly-anticipated debate on CNN on June 27, marking the earliest-ever general election debate in a presidential race. They have also agreed to another televised debate on ABC on September 10. However, Robert F Kennedy Jr is currently not on the guest list for either of these debates.

Elon Musk and Robert F Kennedy Jr have been publicly discussing the possibility of a debate on X, with Musk agreeing to host the event. Kennedy Jr has stated that X is the right platform for the debate, as its audience size is much larger than that of CNN.

While Kennedy Jr has not yet received an invite to the CNN and ABC debates, he may still have a chance to join if he meets the qualifying threshold of attracting 15% support in four national polls. He currently has two of the four polls needed, with 16% support in both CNN/SSRS and Quinnipiac University polls.

If Kennedy Jr does meet the threshold, he would become the first third-party presidential candidate to join a debate since 1992. This possibility has raised tensions in both parties’ camps, with Trump stating that Kennedy Jr needs more than just his name to join the debate.

It remains to be seen if President Biden and former President Trump will agree to join the debate on X, but the potential addition of a third contender has certainly added an interesting twist to the upcoming election season. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.
