Independent White House Hopeful Robert F. Kennedy Jr Accuses Biden and Trump of Trampling on US Constitution
Independent White House hopeful Robert F. Kennedy Jr. made waves on Friday as he delivered a scathing critique of both President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump, accusing them of trampling on the US constitution and infringing on Americans’ civil liberties.
Speaking at the Libertarian Party’s national convention in Washington, Kennedy, known for his anti-vaccine activism, lambasted the two major party candidates for their handling of pandemic-era health restrictions and threats to free speech.
In a passionate speech to a sparse crowd, Kennedy urged Americans to elect leaders who uphold the Constitution and cherish the Bill of Rights. He criticized both Trump and Biden for failing to protect these fundamental rights when it mattered most.
Kennedy, a member of the prominent Kennedy political dynasty, initially considered joining the Libertarian Party before deciding to run for president as an independent. While his chances of winning in November are slim, his presence in the race has raised concerns among Democrats and Republicans about potential impacts on close contests in key swing states.
During his speech, Kennedy took aim at Trump for Covid lockdowns and social distancing measures, as well as Biden for vaccine mandates and alleged collusion with the FBI to censor Americans’ speech on social media platforms.
He also pledged to drop the case against WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange and pardon US whistleblower Edward Snowden on his first day in office, highlighting his commitment to protecting freedom of speech and transparency.
Despite polling at just over 10 percent in surveys that include Trump, Biden, and other minor candidates, Kennedy has secured ballot access in several states and is actively campaigning to expand his reach.
In response to Kennedy’s criticisms, Trump, who is set to deliver a keynote speech at the convention, has ramped up attacks against the independent candidate, emphasizing the potential threat he poses to his reelection bid.
As the political landscape continues to evolve, Kennedy’s unorthodox candidacy and bold stances on civil liberties and government overreach have sparked a lively debate among voters and political observers alike.
