Super PAC led by RFK Jr to sue Meta for temporary blocking of campaign infomercial

Exclusive Coverage: Inside Washington Email Sign Up and Lawsuit Against Meta

The political action committee supporting Robert F Kennedy Jr’s presidential campaign is gearing up for a legal battle against Meta, the parent company of Instagram and Facebook, after the platforms temporarily blocked a link to a campaign video. The 30-minute infomercial, titled Who is Bobby Kennedy?, aims to introduce voters to the independent candidate, who is known for his environmental advocacy and anti-vaccine stance.

The video, produced by The Morning Show creator Jay Carson, features Mr. Kennedy reading negative press clippings about himself and was initially made available on YouTube. However, Instagram and Facebook temporarily restricted access to the video, prompting accusations of censorship from the pro-Kennedy committee.

Meta spokesperson Andy Stone denied the allegations, stating that the video was mistakenly classified as spam and the issue was quickly resolved. Despite this, the PAC claims that the video has been deliberately suppressed on social media platforms, with Twitter being the only platform where it is trending.

The controversy surrounding the video has reignited debates about social media censorship and the influence of tech companies on political discourse. American Values Super PAC founder Tony Lyons criticized the actions of Meta, stating that censoring a presidential candidate limits the public’s ability to learn about their beliefs and policies.

As the legal battle between the pro-Kennedy committee and Meta unfolds, the future of political advertising and free speech on social media platforms remains uncertain. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.
