Trump Campaign Reports Raising $76 Million in April from Donors

Donald J. Trump’s Campaign Advisers Present Bullish Fundraising Projection and Electoral Strategy to Donors

Donald J. Trump’s campaign advisers presented an optimistic outlook to donors at a Republican National Committee retreat, projecting a fundraising haul of $76.2 million for April. The briefing, led by top advisers Susie Wiles, Chris LaCivita, and Tony Fabrizio, highlighted the campaign’s potential to expand the electoral map and secure victory in the upcoming election.

Despite being outspent by President Biden, Mr. Trump’s team remains confident in their ability to secure key swing states and even make inroads in traditionally Democratic-leaning states like Minnesota and Virginia. The presentation included three different electoral college maps, with a focus on maximizing support among white voters while also targeting Black and Latino voters in urban areas.

The event comes at a crucial time for Mr. Trump, who is simultaneously the presumptive Republican nominee and facing a criminal trial related to hush-money payments made during the 2016 campaign. The campaign strategists outlined plans to avoid the losses seen in the 2022 midterm elections, particularly in relation to the issue of abortion and the recent overturning of federal abortion rights by the Supreme Court.

As Mr. Trump gears up for the general election, his team is planning fundraising events in Ohio, Kentucky, and Texas, aiming to replicate the levels of support seen in 2016. The presentation also addressed Mr. Trump’s stance on abortion, with the former president claiming ownership of the end of Roe v. Wade while leaving the decision on a national ban up to individual states.

The Federal Election Commission will receive fundraising reports later this month to verify the campaign’s financial numbers. Despite the challenges ahead, Mr. Trump’s advisers remain confident in their strategy and the candidate’s ability to secure victory in the upcoming election.
