Former President Trump’s Campaign Ends March with $45 Million on Hand
Former President Donald J. Trump’s presidential campaign committee is making strides in closing the fund-raising gap with President Biden, according to recent federal filings. The committee ended March with $45 million on hand, a significant increase from previous months.
Despite spending much less in March compared to earlier in the year, Mr. Trump’s campaign is strategically guarding its resources as it aims to build a strong campaign war chest for the general election. In contrast, President Biden’s campaign had $85.5 million on hand at the end of March, showing a significant increase from the previous month.
Both candidates have been actively engaging in fund-raising efforts, with Mr. Trump’s recent event in Palm Beach, Fla., bringing in over $50.5 million. This nearly doubled the $26 million raised by Mr. Biden at a star-studded event in New York.
As the race heats up, both candidates are focusing on joint fund-raising agreements with their respective parties to pull in donations from individual donors. The recent filings with the Federal Election Commission provide insights into the major donors supporting each candidate and the scale of their fund-raising efforts.
With polls showing a tight race between Mr. Trump and Mr. Biden, the emergence of independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has added an interesting dynamic to the election. His campaign, supported by wealthy Silicon Valley lawyer and investor Nicole Shanahan, has raised significant funds and is gaining attention for its strategic spending on ballot access and security.
As the campaign season progresses, all eyes will be on how the candidates continue to raise and spend their campaign funds in the lead-up to the general election.
